Connecting communities, inspiring celebration!

Nestled along Logan Road, the Mount Gravatt Showgrounds has been a much-loved community landmark since 1918, proudly hosting the Mt Gravatt Show for over a century. While the show has only paused briefly during major events like World War II, and again in the 1970s during a public fight to preserve the land, its legacy continues stronger than ever.

In the face of commercial development threats, our local community stood up, successfully protecting this treasured space through years of determined court action. Thanks to that passionate advocacy, the grounds were formally secured for showground, park, and recreational use.

In 1988, the Mount Gravatt Showgrounds Act established a dedicated seven-member Trust to manage the grounds on behalf of the community. The Trust owns the land title and oversees the operation, preservation, and ongoing improvement of the precinct, ensuring it remains accessible and thriving for future generations. Trustees are appointed by the Governor-in-Council, and the Queensland Minister for Sport oversees the administration of the Act.

Today, our grounds are a unique blend of heritage and purpose. From the iconic Memorial Hall—once a stock and station agent’s building from Cannon Hill Saleyards—to the Community Hall, formerly the Evans Deakin draftsmen’s building in Rocklea, each structure holds its own story. We've also added other relocated buildings and an industrial pavilion, all of which are available for public hire.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the Trust receives no direct government funding. Every event booked and every visitor welcomed plays a role in preserving this incredible venue for the community.

Whether you’re here for a festival, market, meeting or show, the Mount Gravatt Showgrounds is a place built on history and driven by community spirit.
